Moe Deane – Head of Women’s Ministry
“I grew up going to a Baptist church, being a part of Sunday School and Awanas. I accepted Jesus as my Savior at age 9 and was baptized. I enjoyed going on Sundays, and learning about Jesus, but Christianity was not something that was lived out in the home, therefore I knew nothing of a ‘Christian walk’. In my early teens I found myself not attending church so much as it was not forced on us, and therefore getting away from any form of teaching or instruction. As a result I found myself getting into trouble from the ages of 13 through 18. It was the night before my 18th birthday I met a guy named Jeff Deane. Who would have ever guessed what God had in store for us! Jeff was not a Christian at that time, and in fact knew nothing of God other than he believed He existed. Within a few short months, Jeff found himself in a position of wanting to know more about this Jesus (you can find out more of his story through his testimony). I told Jeff what do you want to know? I know all about Jesus, I know all the stories, the books of the Bible, etc.
What I didn’t know, was how to have a relationship with Him. I had never been properly instructed on how to live a life that honored God. As a result of Jeff pursuing God, I wound up rededicating my life to the Lord. We then together starting to grow leaps and bounds by getting into God’s word, studying together, then finding a church we could call home. It was at that church that we got married and grew together spiritually. I am amazed at how even then, as a young believer, Jeff embraced the role of being a spiritual leader, my spiritual leader. He would challenge me to get into the Bible, study together, and memorize together.
It was around early 1985 we found ourselves at Calvary Chapel Elk Grove Village under Pastor Phil Ballmaier’s teaching. We became a part of this church and jumped right into serving in any way possible from stacking chairs, to nursery care, to teaching sunday school. It wasn’t long before we were hosting Bible studies in our home. Jeff and I grew by leaps and bounds at CCEG and are thankful for the teaching we received. It became evident by the end of 1992 that God was calling Jeff out to Pastor a church, and so by March of 1993 we found ourselves venturing out on our own with a few friends that followed to start our journey in ministry.
It has been an honor to serve alongside Jeff in ministry. It has in many ways been the most wonderfully, joyful, exciting, painful, difficult, rewarding ride! We have learned over and over to walk in God’s grace, trust in Him, and hold tight to His word.
It is all these things that have made me the woman I am today! My desire for the women at Revive is that they too will flourish under the teaching, that they will grow and learn as they serve, will build forever friendships, and their faith will be solidified in God’s word.
